Pendentif or jaune 750/1000
Perle phénicienne 1200-332 B.C.
- The glass, described as "Phoenician" by historians, fueled the legend, like many of man's technical conquests. It originated in Mesopotamia in the 3rd millennium and we owe its rebirth and development during the Iron Age to a few Mesopotamian glassmakers who settled in Phenicia. Subsequently, the technical skill at which they achieved, and the chemical properties of Phoenician sand particularly suited to vitrification, undoubtedly contributed to making the Phoenicians the inventors of this complex and sophisticated technique, one of the remains of which adorns our jewel. .
