Pendentif or jaune 750/1000

Perle phénicienne 1200-332 B.C.

750/1000 yellow gold necklace

This glass paste bead with spiral patterns presents an astonishing palette of blue contrasted by pure white. Its almost glittery and swirling blues are reminiscent of the arabesques of “The Starry Night” painted by Van Gogh. The few flashes present, caused by its passage through time - counted in millennia - only reinforce this aspect of Starry Night.

  • The glass, described as "Phoenician" by historians, fueled the legend, like many of man's technical conquests. It originated in Mesopotamia in the 3rd millennium and we owe its rebirth and development during the Iron Age to a few Mesopotamian glassmakers who settled in Phenicia. Subsequently, the technical skill at which they achieved, and the chemical properties of Phoenician sand particularly suited to vitrification, undoubtedly contributed to making the Phoenicians the inventors of this complex and sophisticated technique, one of the remains of which adorns our jewel. .
